Screen Ireland Backs Éiru Films' New Drama The Yank
Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette
Éiru Films is delighted to announce that it has been awarded development funding from Screen Ireland for its new television drama project, The Yank, written by acclaimed actor, writer and filmmaker Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette.
The funding will support the next stage of development for the series, helping bring this distinctive Irish-American story closer to production.
Set in Galway, The Yank follows Boston native Nolan Burke, an emotionally adrift single father who moves to Ireland following the death of his own father in a bid to build a relationship with his young daughter. Blending humour, heart and emotional depth, the series explores family, belonging, grief and second chances through an authentic Irish-American lens.
Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette has enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades across film, television and theatre. Beginning on Broadway, he has worked alongside some of Hollywood's most acclaimed filmmakers and actors, earning nominations including an MTV Movie Award and a Gotham Award. Alongside his writing and directing work, Christopher will soon be seen in the forthcoming season of Amazon Prime Video's hit series Reacher.
Heather Higgins, Producer at Éiru Films, said:
"We're thrilled to receive this development support from Screen Ireland for The Yank. Christopher has created a story that is funny, deeply human and emotionally honest, exploring family, identity and belonging through a fresh Irish-American perspective. It's exactly the kind of bold, character-led storytelling we're passionate about championing at Éiru Films. This funding allows us to continue developing the project and bring this unique series closer to the screen."
